CENLA PRIDE WEEKEND 2022 BY CENLA PRIDE, ALEXANDRIA, LA

The annual Cenla Pride Weekend will be held on June 3rd and 4th in Downtown Alexandria.
“This festival is recognized locally and throughout the state for bringing people from diverse backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, and races together to celebrate our belief that what we have in common is more important than ways we are different as we are EQUALLY human.” stated Ann Lowrey, Executive Director of CLASS, the founder and primary sponsor of Cenla Pride.
This year’s event will kick off on Friday evening at the historic Hotel Bentley Mirror Room with an opening reception and art auction that will feature original works of art created by professional artists that include light artist Cindy Blair, numerous resident artists of River Oaks Square Arts Center, along with other talented artists from the area.
Saturday kicks off at noon with the annual Pride Walk featuring the Cenla Brass Band who will lead walkers through Downtown Alexandria to the City’s Convention Hall. Throughout the afternoon, people of all ages will enjoy family friendly activities that includes live music, outdoor games, arts and crafts, food trucks, and vendors. The main event will be held on Saturday evening with a Flashback to the Past drag show featuring eight renowned drag stars performing to music of the 60’s 70’s, 80’s 90’s and 2000s.
“After two years of social distancing, Cenla Pride will bring our community together to celebrate individuality and personal self-expression in a stigma-free environment” stated Ms. Lowrey. The CLASS tagline is Healthy Living for All and we know that freedom from stigma and discrimination contribute to happier and healthier people. This event is as important for allies like myself as it is for people who identify as LGBTQ and is a celebration of the various ways we all come together in community, whether it be at work, at play, or in worship.”
Hosted by: CLASS Healthy Living for All.
All Cenla Pride events and activities are free and open to the public. For further information, contact the CLASS office at 318-442-1010.
